National Manufacturing Week (NMW) and the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) proudly announce they will partner to make workplace safety a ‘star’ at NMW 2014. Reflecting the ongoing urgency around safety measures  – given there were over 170 Australian worker deaths in 2013 – the NSCA is investing in National Manufacturing Week as a step towards its goal of making Australian workplaces the safest in the world.

Through this partnership, the NSCA will have a landmark presence at NMW2014. This will include a stand in the  Health and Safety Product Zone, where the NSCA will showcase safety solutions and training products, as well as having experts on-hand to outline consulting and auditing resources available to industry.  In short, visitors to the NSCA stand will be able to have their safety questions answered at no cost by Australia’s leading safety experts.

NSCA will also participate in the NMW Health and Safety Solutions Theatre. This dedicated area on the exhibition floor will house a rolling series of presentations – live and free-to-attend for visitors – featuring OH&S experts with strategies, ideas and inspiration about creating safe workplaces.

Adam Baldock, CEO of the NSCA comments, “The unfortunate fact is that too many of the workplace injuries and deaths we saw in 2013 came from the manufacturing sector.”

“We are firmly committed to reducing these statistics – by giving industry the skills and resources to reduce their risks – and where better than National Manufacturing Week for the NSCA to showcase its commitment?” he said.

Exhibition Director for NMW 2014, Anthony Reed says the NSCA’s participation adds further momentum to the Health and Safety Product Zone, which has already attracted a number of landmark exhibitors with innovative solutions for managing workplace hazards.

Among exhibitors in the Health & Safety Product Zone is well-known Australian company, Spitwater. The company’s Branch Manager – NSW, Milo Gajin, says that because cleaning processes are integral to a safe workplace, NMW’s Health and Safety Product Zone is the ideal backdrop for showcasing  Spitwater’s range of high pressure water cleaners, industrial and commercial vacuum cleaners and scrubber driers.

Also exhibiting in the Health & Safety section will be Zone Sponsor, A1 Testing and Tagging. The company is introducing a light weight, super-fast, easy-to-use test and tag machine, the Clevermode, described as a ‘game changer’ that gives companies more flexibility in test and tag operations.  A1 Testing and Tagging’s expert team will also be on hand throughout NMW, to share learnings from their years of experience in protecting workplaces from the dangers of electrical shock, fire or other electrical issues.

In all, NMW’s Health and Safety Zone will be one of the standouts of the event, comments Reed.

“Health & Safety is one of the areas of broad industry interest – after all, we all want to give employees a safe working environment – and with the NSCA’s support, NMW will reward visitors with world-class advice and solutions for risk management,” he added.

NMW 2014 runs 13 – 16 May at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. Entry is free for trade visitors.
