NMW stronger and greener in 2012

1 Dec 2011

National Manufacturing Week – co-located with Austech – returns to Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, May 8 - 11 with an expanded showcase of innovation for Australian manufacturers.

Australia’s largest integrated manufacturing industry event, NMW will this year house a record 12 Product Zones including two new zones:  Sustainable Manufacturing and Metals & Composites.

The Sustainable Manufacturing Zone reflects industry’s growing awareness that alternative energy, water and other sustainable technologies are pivotal to manufacturing’s future.

The Zone focuses on developments that help manufacturers reduce their environmental footprint – and provides visitors with opportunities to see commercial solutions for energy efficient, lower-carbon and lower-cost production.

The Metals & Composites Zone presents new developments in industry’s quest to develop reliable, lightweight, easily moulded manufacturing materials.

This Zone will provide a comprehensive catalogue of the capabilities and products available from companies who specialise in tailoring the stiffness, strength, density, and thermal and electrical properties of composite materials.

In addition to the two new Zones, NMW 2012 will once again house the Air Technology, Automation & Robotics, Electrical, Electronics, Engineering, Health & Safety, Information Technology, Materials Handling, Process Control & Instrumentation and Welding Technology Zones – all colour-coded to make it easier for buyers and sellers to find each other.

NMW 2012 will also feature ongoing demonstrations and strategy sessions reflecting the expo’s role as the event that strengthens manufacturing through technology, education and innovation.

Paul Baker, Exhibition Director for NMW 2012 says that the larger number of Product Zones will help create a stronger match between visitors’ needs and suppliers’ capabilities.

“We intend that all visitors to NMW 2012 come away with new contacts and ideas for their businesses – so that NMW, as a whole, achieves its goal of being the event that strengthens Australia’s manufacturing sector,” Baker said.
