New CAD/CAM and graphics software with feature recognition at NMW 2008

14/04/2008
German-based CAD/CAM and graphics software developer Schott Systeme will demonstrate the latest version of its "Pictures by PC" software on Stand 2510.3 during National Manufacturing Week at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 27 to 30.

The new software, which coincides with the company’s celebrations of 25 years in software development, incorporates intelligent 3D free-modelling capabilities, which enable the direct editing of 3D parts without the need for a feature tree.

Schott Systeme representative Alec Thorne said Pictures by PC was a fully integrated design, manufacturing and information technology solution for all aspects of design, construction, machining and technical documentation.

The latest version has advanced feature recognition which enables a user to find specific features for editing, replacement or removal.

"This ability to search the un-parametric part also helps in selecting features to machine, from simple 2.5D pockets through to areas requiring 3D rest machining and typical fiveaxis simultaneous features such as the swarf cutting of angled side walls and freeform chamfers."

Schott Systeme will also demonstrate new machining techniques for 2.5D, 3D and fiveaxis milling.

Prices for the software range from $4825 for the full 2D/3D CAD and graphics package to $16,890 for the 2D/3D design and machining package (2.5D, 3D and 3+2 axis milling, drilling and engraving).

Modules for turning, wireEDM and five-axis simultaneous machining are available.
