High precision lathe for tiny and complex parts production at NMW 2008

14/04/2008
Sheet metal machinery specialist Power Machinery will have a very specific technology on display on Stand A12 in the Austech section during National Manufacturing Week at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 27 to 30.

The company will demonstrate the DecoSigma 8 automatic precision lathe engineered by Tornos in Switzerland with a high level of precision.

This machine addresses new markets such as the electronics sector and especially the mini-disk sector for mobile information technology applications. It can respond to a multitude of requirements for the watch, automotive, medical and electronics industries.

Power Machinery will take the 10mm capacity sliding headstock CNC lathe through its paces at the exhibition. It is an outstanding precision machine capable of producing 40% more than a conventional CNC lathe.

It accommodates the reasonably complex parts market that demands the highest levels of precision and quality.

DECO Sigma 8 automatic lathe with sub spindle and 8 mm capacity has five basic linear axes providing an excellent price-to-performance ratio.

The kinematics are perfectly adapted to execute reasonably complex parts. It is a technological solution that allows Tornos to offer an automatic lathe that guarantees a degree of precision of ± 1μ (0.001 mm).

Its main advantages are:

  • ±1 μ.The most precise parts on the market are within your reach
  • It can tackle all kinds of material
  • Responsive 15,000 rpm spindle
  • The horsepower for today's tooling and materials
  • Multiple configurations available for different applications
  • Small foot print
  • Optimised design for set-up, production and maintenance
