Portable infrared thermometer at NMW 2008

A medium to long range infrared thermometer designed to measure small targets without contact will be demonstrated by IRtek International on Stand 4923 during National Manufacturing Week at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 27 to 30.

The IRtek LR300 has a distance-to-spot ratio of 300:1, a temperature range of -20°C to 280°C and weighs 1 kg.

It has a riflescope and a measuring distance of 2 m to 15 m.

It is widely used in the electricity and railways industries to measure the temperature of:

  • transmission lines and
  • substation equipment junctions

It is also used for safety monitoring as part of plant maintenance procedures.

Developed by WA-based IRtek International, the IRtek 300 is currently being used to check electricity transmission lines throughout Egypt following the Egypt Electricity Distribution Company’s purchase of five of the thermometers.
